Im 23 with high blood pressure, how concerned should I be?

Asked: Im 23 with high blood pressure, how concerned should I be?

Okay so I am a 23 year old Male, with a BP usually in the range of 140/80-something (sometimes my numbers record a little less, sometimes more. sometimes it goes over 140 for sys and over 80 for dia) and my resting heart rate when taken at the doctors and at home is in the 80's-90's frequently, and before I started seeing my new doctor, my heart rate was constantly in the 100 and over mark when I took it at home.

I am obese, I am 5'11" and weigh 300 lbs. I have been overweight/obese going on 3 years now. Before then I was at a healthy weight still. I gained most of the weight in a short period of time from eating a lot of bad foods. I also get a lot of gastric problems like constipation, indigestion/heartburn and trapped gas along with panicky feelings and things associated with panic disorder like tingling in the fingers, slight chest pains, my head feels weird, and racing heart (once i tracked my heartbeat going to 136 on my BP machine before i went to the ER.)

I have a history of psychiatric issues such as depression and anxiety, and have had full blown panic attacks. since my panic attacks over a year ago, I've been very on edge and am now on anti-anxiety med and rispeidone for my mood. I was also put on a bp medicine to lower my heart rate, after the doctors found there was nothing wrong with my heart through all the tests (I've had numerous blood tests done, an echocardiogram, EKG's, and a stress test and they all came back normal.) . My cholesterol is even in the normal range right now after i changed how i was eating, it used to be high.

I am trying to eat better- I am eating more veggies, less red meat, i'm introducing soy products to my diet, and im drinking green tea to help calm me down.

My doctor really wants me to start exercising again, and she told me not to worry so much about reducing my sodium or keeping track of my sodium content. My doctors don't seem very worried, even though my bp is usually in the 140/80-90 range and my heart rate is constantly in the high side.

I think a lot of this is tied to my anxiety perhaps, because when i take an ambulance ride or go to the ER my bp momentarily goes down to the 120's/60's or so, but when i take my bp at home it's constantly high. I also get nervous when i leave my house, and other things associated with anxiety.

I'm just worried that im going to do lasting damage to my body from my heart rate and bp being high most of the time. I know I need to lose weight- I changed the way Ive been eating but is the weight the only thing I should be worried about here? I'm seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist too.
